How to create a Domain with SOA managed server in WebLogic server 11g?

In 11g in order to deploy the SOA applications into Weblogic server, we need to create a Domain with single Managed Server for Oracle SOA Suite. To create any managed server we need to first create Admin server. In this post I will show you how to create one Admin server and two managed servers (soa_server1 and bam_server1).

If you want to create a WebLogic domain with Oracle SOA Suite in the WebLogic server, you must install Oracle SOA Suite (C:\ORACLE_SOA11g\Oracle_SOA11.1.1.2) in the same Middleware Home (C:\ORACLE_SOA11g).

1) Start the Configuration Wizard from the Start Menu as shown below –

2) Select the ‘Create a new WebLogic domain’ option and click Next as shown below –

3) Select the options as shown below and click Next. Here “Oracle Business Activity Monitoring” option is for bam_server1 managed server.

4) Give any name for “Domain Name” and click Next as shown

5) You can give any password (make sure you remember the password) and click Next

6) Select “JRocket SDK” from Available JDKs as shown. Please do not select “SUN SDK” as it was giving me errors while accessing the Domain. Not sure when it need to be used. So for now you can proceed with “JRocket SDK“.

7) Provide values for DBMS/Service, Hostname, Port and Schema Password as shown below. In my case, I had used XE database and given same password for all schema while creating using Repository Creation Utility (RCU). So my password is Welcome1 and click Next

8) It will try to connect to the Schema as shown

9) Once all the schema connections are successful you will see the below screen and click Next

10) Click Next

11) Click Create

Once you minimized the managed servers under Server under fmw_domain, you will see one Admin server and two managed servers (bam_server1 and soa_server1). In this list bam_server1 is available because we had selected this option in Step 3.

12) You can view the progress in the screen as shown

13) After successful creation of the Domain you will see the below screen.

You have completed the creation of New Domain with one Admin server and two managed servers (bam_server1 and soa_server1).

      Hi,

While creating your Weblogic Domain, you need to select SOA components to see the SOA server.

You can extend the existing Wenlogic domain as well.

Please try and let me know if you find any issues.

      Thanks
      Udaya

Its helpful. But I see only Adminserver in the console under servers but not SOA mananager server(soa_server1). What do I need to do to see soa_server1 as a manager server

    • udayarocks says:

      HI Subbu,

      Thanks for your comments.

To see the soa_server1 under ‘Servers’ in Weblogic console, while creating the Domain in ‘Select Domain Source’ step, you need to select the option “Oracle SAO Suite – 11.1.1.0 [Oracle_SOA1]”.

You can even extend the existing Domain by using the Configuration Wizard.

Please let me know if you need any clarifications.

      Regards,
      Udaya

    Hi!
It’s a great post! But i have a other problem, and i would like to know if you have some advice. I need to create a managed server only to OSB, but I tried all intructions available in internet. Do you have any ideia? Thanks!

  21. Sandro Simas says:

    Hi Udaya,
I created the osb domains with this steps, but i included only the AdminServer because my project is in development phase. Now i have to add a managed server to the domains and one machine associated with this server.

The AdminServer now can have only the SBConsole. The Runtime proxies will run in the managed Server. Do you know how i can add this managed server to the domains and configure to use OSB ?

I created the machine and the managed server in weblogic, however my proxy only run in the AdminServer. Another thing is that the tab Service Health in SBConsole shows this 2 servers (AdminServer and the ManagedServer).

Do you know how can i do that ?
